WHAT IS GOD? IS BHAGAVAD GITA FLAWED? IS THIS WORLD JUST AN ILLUSION?

Let me introduce myself. I am a 21 year old engineering student. It has been 1 year since I set out on asking what really is GOD? Is he even there? What if whatever we are taught complete crap?

Most of the youths nowadays literally talk about beer, drinks, girlfriends/boyfriends, sex, break up, gadgets etc etc. Some would go 'HIGHER'using marijuana, and that is how THEY ATTAIN THEIR GOD. Some more serious would talk about their future and career, and a very few talk about RELIGION and PHILOSOPHY, and many a times, these are ridiculed, laughed at and considered old thinkers.

Well I happen to be lucky to hang around 2 of my mates who are definitely religious, we do discuss philosophy, agree and disagree, have heated debates. But in the end, we do believe that today's youth is highly influenced by western culture. We forget how rich our culture is, how scientific, and how deep.

The trend today is, 'RADICAL THOUGHTS'. 'Our culture is crap, our scriptures is crap.Western culture is so liberal . THERE IS NO GOD.GOD IS A MYTH.' Maybe they believe in that way, and it is okay. I respect their thinking, but it does not necessarily mean I agree to it. My thoughts and experiences have made me definitely believe that there is much powerful force, far beyond our comprehension. And it is totally ignorant on our part to be dismissive about it.

I happened to surf through a blog, where the author completely dismisses the BHAGAVAD GITA as nonsense. I was shocked, infuriated and amused at the same time. She happened to read the holy scripture by SHRI PRABHUPAT JI, and writes about the flaws in its philosophy. It actually is funny how just by superficially reading, one acts so KNOWLEDGEABLE and starts doubting the credibility of SCRIPTURE that has been hailed by greatest philosophers. IT IS THIS LITTLE KNOWLEDGE that is dangerous.

I have read and heard, that GITA should NOT be read without assistance of Guru, since our doubts can only be dispelled by him. I have read the scripture somewhat. There are somethings that I too have question against, but I do feel that there must be much more meaning than mere superficial words. The words maybe taken out of context as well. FOR E.G  Consider Shlok 9.30 of BHAGVAD GITA

"Even if one commits the most abominable action, if he is engaged in devotional service he is to be considered saintly because he is properly situated in his determination."

At first, I thought how is this possible? If I go on murdering people then praise the lord with all my devotion, I am not a sinner. This is completely INSANE and FLAWED, isn't it? Now Consider next Shlok, 9.31  

"He quickly becomes righteous and attains lasting peace. O son of Kuntī, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes."

It clearly says that if an evil person devotes his time to lord, he will definitely become pious and repent his sins. I do not need to talk about great sage VALMIKI, do I?

Another thing I noted was COMMON SENSE. USING OUR COMMON SENSE, we will see that these scriptures are again, flawed and we should think clearly and independently on every issue. Then there is SCIENCE, isn't it? SCIENCE has discovered THE GOD PARTICLE, so that solves it. YUP, the debate ends.

Well, I have something to say here as well. 

1: Common sense. Let's use this UNCOMMON thing a bit here, put it to use. Suppose you are running towards a car at certain speed,and car is approaching you at same speed, what will the speed of the car appear to you?

Did you say DOUBLE? CONGRATS, you do have some COMMON SENSE. Now consider a second question

YOU ARE RUNNING TOWARDS A SOURCE OF LIGHT at APPROX THE SPEED OF LIGHT, so what will the speed of LIGHT appear to you?

DID I HEAR DOUBLE? SAME? Before I had studied EINSTEIN's theory, I would have said DOUBLE. That's what my common sense would say. But wait, that is the WRONG ANSWER. MY COMMON SENSE JUST POOPED.

MORAL: When we don't understand something, we shouldn't be dismissive about it.

2: This world is an ILLUSION. Well, what BULLSHIT? That's what I thought when I first read it. 
But wait, like I said, there is more than mere superficial words.
I would again take you back to theory of relativity. EVERYTHING IS RELATIVE, except of course, speed of LIGHT.(I MAY BE WRONG HERE, AS I MYSELF DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS THEORY COMPLETELY). Isn't light an energy? As the Gita has said, time and space is illusion, and God is only ABSOLUTE.

Moreover I asked a physicist the properties of ENERGY, here are some excerpts

• ALWAYS WAS, IS, WILL BE.
• NEITHER BE CREATED, NOR BE DESTROYED.
• CAN CHANGE FORM.

Then I asked a philosopher, WHAT IS GOD? Here are some excerpts 

• ALWAYS WAS, IS, WILL BE.
• NEITHER BE CREATED, NOR BE DESTROYED.
• CAN CHANGE FORM.

Remember, ENERGY and MATTER in inter convertible. That means we are all part of 1 UNIVERSAL ENERGY. Didn't Lord KRISHNA say that we are all part of him?

3: Weren't we taught god resides in every particle(GOD PARTICLE)? I believe that there IS NO MIRACLE behind God's MIRACLES. What he does, goes through careful mechanism, from the smallest reaction to the largest BIG BANG.

There are tons of things that I still would want to say, but it is getting late, so I'd rather be sleeping. Please do leave your comment, be it good or bad. CRITICISM is welcome, though do not expect me to dispel your doubts. Like I said, I am NOT A PUNDIT in the subject, just a student.
